Norwood Manor is located in southeast Atlanta, GA six miles southeast of Five Points, near the Lakewood Fairgrounds and the historic South-View Cemetery. The community has existed since the late 1940s. It is one of the first subdivisions developed for African Americans in Atlanta. The original residents were hard working middleclass folk from all walks of life: educators, pastors, postal workers, steel workers, railroad employees, veterans of World War II and the Korean conflict, etc. Today's families in The Manor are similar in makeup to the original families. There are nearly 160 homes in the community known as The Manor with several more homes across the Georgia Southern Railroad that are an extended part of our neighborhood.
Norwood Manor Civic Association, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, established in 1994 to better represent the interest of the residents of Norwood Manor with developers and local government officials. Our main purpose is to provide a means for improvements in the living conditions and quality of life for those living in our community. We want our residents to have a forum to offer their concerns and special interests.
All residents are encouraged to join and participate in the activities of the organization. None are excluded and all are invited.
